Come to Konstam!
Back in 2004, before I opened my restaurant, or started writing my book, I had a little Café in King's Cross called Konstam. It was, as Time Out said very early on, cute as a button, and quickly became a hub of good food, good conversation and gorgeous community.
Sadly It closed in 2007, but recently I was talking to the good folk at Calvert 22, the fantastic gallery and events space on Calvert Avenue in Shoreditch and they said they'd like to hold a series of pop-ups. I thought "why not have a Konstam Cafe Residency?", and they loved the idea, so that's what we're going to do.
It will be over two weekends in the middle of January - Thursday 12th - Sunday 15th & Thursday 19th - Sunday 22nd. We'll be serving breakfast and lunch Thursday & Friday, Brunch all day on the weekends. The menu will be simple and delicious, full of fresh, local, seasonal ingredients and available to eat in or take away.
The whole residency will be very collaborative, from the cakes, by heavenly baker Henrietta Inman and delicious pickles by Newton and Pott, through to the special events we'll be holding In the evenings. I've got super nights with amazing chefs Olia Hercules, author of the sensational Mamushka, and Alex Hely-Hutchinson from 26 Grains, and Kino Vino Film Nights, curated by Alissa Timoshkina lined up - it's going to be brilliant!
I hope you can come and join us.
